Mushfiqur Rahim, the former Bangladesh captain, is one of three nominees for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for May 2021. Hasan Ali of Pakistan and Praveen Jayawickrama of Sri Lanka are the other two contenders for the prize.

The Men's Player of the Month award was established by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2021. Thanks to his outstanding efforts in January 2021, Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant became the first cricketer to earn the award.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, both Pant's compatriots, got the prize in February and March, respectively. The Pakistan captain became the first non-Indian to win the ICC Men's Player of the Month award in April 2021.

The ICC announced Hasan Ali, Praveen Jayawickrama, and Mushfiqur Rahim as nominees for the May 2921 ICC Men's Player of the Month award on Tuesday (June 8).

Mushfiqur Rahim scored 80 runs in the second Test against Sri Lanka and then 237 runs in three One-Day Internationals against the Islanders. Bangladesh climbed to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League standings thanks to Rahim's outstanding efforts.

Hasan Ali of Pakistan played two Test matches in Harare against Zimbabwe. The right-arm fast bowler took 14 wickets in the series, including two five-wicket hauls, to help Pakistan win convincingly. He also scored 30 runs in the first Test match.

Praveen Jayawickrama, meanwhile, made his Test debut against Bangladesh. On his Test debut, the Sri Lankan left-arm spin bowler got six wickets in the 1st innings and five more in the 2nd to finish with 11 wickets.

It will be fascinating to see which Asian player wins the ICC Men's Player of the Month award in May 2021.
