According to well-known football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool's ambitions for the remainder of the transfer window are contingent on their ability to sell some of their periphery players.

This summer, the Reds have only signed one player, RB Leipzig's Ibrahima Konate. After signing Konate, Liverpool has enough cover in most pitch areas and will only buy players if necessary.

This summer, Liverpool has placed a higher priority on safeguarding the futures of their first-team players than on adding new players. After Liverpool gave new contracts to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, and Alisson Becker last week, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are next.

According to Fabrizio Romano, further arrivals this summer will be contingent on outgoings, and Renato Sanches is one player the Reds could pursue.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Reds could not offload some peripheral players last season, causing them financial hardship.

Liverpool has already sold three players this summer: Taiwo Awoniyi, Marko Grujic, and Harry Wilson, with a couple more possible.

According to Liverpool, Lyon is interested in Shaqiri, and he might move if the French club makes a decent enough offer.

Nat Phillips has been linked with several Premier League clubs and was left out of Liverpool's final pre-season game against Osasuna.
