MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, will coach the Indian squad at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman between October 17 and November 14. Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket in August of last year, last played for India in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand and will play again in the 2021 IPL, which precedes the T20 World Cup.

BCCI has named a 15-man roster for the multi-team competition, including three standby players. Virat Kohli will lead the team, with Rohit Sharma as his deputy and Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan as wicketkeepers. Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav made strong debuts against England at home earlier this year, and they have been included with Hardik Pandya and Rahul Chahar from Mumbai Indians.

Apart from Chahar, who has had a string of successful IPL seasons, mystery spinner Varun Chakvrarthy and Axar Patel, and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who last played limited-overs cricket for India against the West Indies in 2017, have been named in the 15-man squad.
