All of the following tactics are based on six decks, double after split, and re-splitting aces.

The approach for a maximum 21 Magic bet of 100% of the blackjack stake with the dealer standing on a soft 17 is as follows.


When the dealer hits a soft 17, the approach for a maximum 21 Magic bet of 20% of the blackjack wager is as follows:


If the 21 Magic bets are capped at 20% of the blackjack wager, as shown on the analysis page below, the player should bet nothing on the 21 Magic and play following standard basic strategy.

In the table below, the house edge is calculated using the three sets of rules given in the strategy section. The "Maximum 21 Magic" column indicates the maximum amount a player can wager on 21 Magic compared to his blackjack wager. The expected value to the player is shown in the right two columns in two ways: one relative to the blackjack wager only, and the other relative to the sum of the two starting wagers. For example, if the player bets $100 on each stake and the dealer hits a soft 17, he can expect to gain $6.82 per hand under the regulations where the player can spend 100% of the blackjack wager 21 Magic, and the dealer hits a soft 17.
