Virat Kohli will play the ODI series against South Africa

There have been numerous rumours that India's Test captain Virat Kohli may miss the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The BCCI, on the other hand, has clarified the situation, stating that Kohli will continue to play ODIs for South Africa. India will begin their tour of South Africa on December 26 and will face the Proteas in three Tests followed by one-day internationals. The series' T20Is have been cancelled till further notice.

With the series approaching, Rohit Sharma has been tasked with leading India in white-ball formats. According to reports, Kohli was dissatisfied with the ODI captaincy swap and would not be comfortable playing under Rohit. Therefore he decided to leave. Kohli was also said to have decided to skip the series to spend more time with his family. However, all such rumours have been put to rest by a top BCCI official.

With Kohli and Rohit not playing together, a slew of major figures in cricket showed up to discuss the situation. According to former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin, these revelations only fuel conjecture about a breach between two senior players. In a similar vein, Kirti Azad stated that this feud would be detrimental to India in the long term.
